Associate Director, Prospect Management & Research-Principal Gifts

The American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science (ACWIS) is seeking a talented and motivated Associate Director, Prospect Management & Research to join a highly successful team of dedicated people who share the Weizmann Institute’s mission: science for the benefit of humanity.

 

This newly created position, reporting to the Vice President, Principal Gifts, provides prospect research, portfolio development and management, and technology support for an innovative team of principal gifts fundraisers working to achieve ambitious goals for donor engagement and solicitation. The Associate Director, Prospect Management & Research will be tasked with building a sustainable analytics and prospect management system, while also providing accurate and detailed research on our best prospects. The position ensures fundraising staff has accurate information on board members, donors, prospective donors, financial performance and fundraising metrics in a timely and easily accessible manner.

 

Area of Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management (50%)

  • Develop/create portfolios for frontline fundraisers
  • Conduct regular prospect and portfolio review meetings to ensure focus on those with highest affinity and capacity

 

Prospect Research (30%)

  • Analyze wealth screen data
  • Present strong prospect portfolios to fundraisers
  • Research and create prospect profiles (existing and new)
  • Maintain the ACWIS donor metrics database

 

Analyzing & Measuring Moves/Metrics for Success (20%)

  • Facilitate the organization’s Moves Management metrics process
  • Develop reports and provide regular analysis of engagement and solicitation regionally and nationally

 

Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Utilize a variety of resources and research strategies to gather data on principal gift prospects and provide customized profiles and portfolios to support gift officers.
  • Inform fundraising strategies based on internal and external information sources regarding individual and prospective principal gifts donors.
  • Conduct regular review and analysis of ACWIS donor database and segmented prospect lists with a focus on prioritizing high-capacity prospects to be shared with gift officers.
  • Coordinate schedule of regular prospect and portfolio review meetings among gift officers and other members of the ACWIS leadership team.
  • Facilitate the organization’s Moves Management metrics process and provide regular analysis of success rates regionally and nationally for all fundraisers.
  • Develop dashboards and regular reports to support principal gifts officers and senior fundraisers.
  • Assist gift officers in the qualification process of new and existing prospects through research.
  • Collaborate with staff to define questions and objectives related to data that will inform, support, and measure their work.
  • Assess current prospect research technology tools, and identify new ones, that will further the work of the ACWIS staff in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

 

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years experience in fundraising/development/philanthropy or development research or data research/analysis.
  • Proven skills in understanding, analyzing and synthesizing high volumes of information and producing actionable results for gift officers.
  • Must understand information management in a database structure, particularly the ability to store, retrieve, analyze and maintain data.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize and meet frequent deadlines.
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across all areas of the organization.
  • Demonstrate and promote high standards for quality and productivity, focusing on results.
  • Familiarity with APRA, CASE, and similar professional associations.

 

Computer Skills Required:
  • Experience and proficiency with Raiser’s Edge (NXT) or another CRM tool.
  • Experience with development research resources such as LexisNexis and wealth screen tools.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
