Director, IT Architecture

Summary of Position

The newly created role of Director of IT Architecture will report to the Chief Strategy Officer. The primary responsibility of this role is to drive network and systems adoption through high level management and is the subject matter expert in overall technology systems to ensure that organizational strategy and vision is present across the organization. This role will also be responsible for managing one IT support staff and will work closely with the fundraising, finance, legal and operations teams to assess their respective needs.

What will you be doing:

    • Design, implement, and manage network/hardware operations internal to ACWIS and externally with global partners.
    • Manage and ensure network and IT security for ACWIS.
    • Design, implementation and management of  cloud-based file system.
    • Assess and implement communication and technology access needs for ACWIS staff traveling abroad.
    • Manage communication systems including, but not limited to, phone system and video conferencing.
    • Leading IT projects across all functional divisions and categories; you will be in control of creating the vision of the organization's crucial data and infrastructure while overseeing the 3–5 year planning/roadmap for the organization's IT architectural and design requirements based on its long-term strategic plan.
    • Identify new technologies and recommend improvements.
    • Apply innovative methods to both internal and external network operations.
    • Serve as a valuable technical resource and a subject matter expert on network infrastructure.
    • Analyze potential IT cost-cutting measures while managing the cost and impact for key projects.
    • Develop and manage relationships with external vendors and consultants.
    • Oversee procurement of hardware.
    • Other duties may also be assigned.

What technical skills are required of you:

What technical skills are required of you

    • Experience and proficiency in network design and implementation for in-house and remote users.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and OneDrive or other cloud-based file System.
    • Proficiency in network and IT security best practices.
    • Experience in communication systems such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
    • Proficiency with MS Windows 10/11, MacOS, Android and iOS operating systems.
    • Strong understanding of IT systems as it relates to data security.
    • The capacity to address integration challenges using established knowledge of a wide range of technologies.
    • Deep technical expertise of all aspects of IT, and an in-depth understanding of operating systems, applications, server virtualization, cloud platforms, LAN/WAN, firewalls, and networking.
    • Strong aptitude for work processing and results tracking.
    • Ability to create a plan and execute a vision with minimal oversight.
    • Extensive technical expertise and knowledge of:
    • Cloud native applications and cloud services architecture
    • Real-time logging, monitoring and resiliency approaches
    • Disaster recovery and business continuity planning
    • Process automation approaches and tooling
