Mar 21, 2019... The Midwest Region’s annual Gala Dinner took place at The Geraghty in Chicago with over 600 guests in attendance. Local civic and community leaders came together to honor Michael Polsky, Founder and CEO of Invenergy. A dedicated philanthropist and energy industry pioneer, Mr. Polsky received the Weizmann Leadership Award. The evening’s program, emceed by ABC 7 reporter Janet Davies, also consisted of presentations by University of Chicago President Robert Zimmer and Prof. Avigdor Scherz, Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, who discussed his cutting-edge cancer research. Chaired by Janet and Steven Anixter and JoAnn Anixter Silva, the highly successful gala raised over $1.3 million in support of the Weizmann Institute.
Jan 22, 2019... To expand the ties between the Israeli and Czech scientific communities, their countries are developing new forms of collaboration among talented young scientists. One such project is the “Joint Prague-Weizmann Winter School on Drug Discovery.” This intensive week of professional lectures is attended by more than 120 scientists and students from around the world. The project provides a unique opportunity for young Israeli and Czech researchers to meet and discuss the latest trends and challenges in drug development, as well as to meet with world leaders in academia and experts from such multinational pharmaceutical giants as MSD, Roche, and Astra Zeneca.

Three Valley teens are part of a group of 21 students from across the country who have been accepted to attend a summer science program at Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science, a center of scientific research and graduate study.
The Dr. Bessie F. Lawrence International Summer Science Institute (ISSI) is a four-week, intensive science exploration that affords students the opportunity to work in small groups with world-renowned scientists and graduate students, conducting actual, ongoing research. Participants select a subject area in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics or computer sciences. Senior Weizmann Institute scientists give supplemental lectures and participants are invited to join departmental talks and visit the campus’ state-of-the-art science facilities.

"Larry" Marks, dedicated advocates for the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science, have been appointed co-chairs of its Bay Area Region. They succeed Dr. Jay A. Levy, who has served as the region's chair for 10 years. In their new roles, Dr. Monroy and Mr. Marks will spearhead efforts to develop philanthropic support for the Weizmann Institute of Science. Located in Israel, the Weizmann Institute is one of the world's top-ranking centers of multidisciplinary science research and graduate study.

The other, bald and goateed, looks into the boy’s eyes and places both hands on his arm. A few older children gather behind them, grinning and waiting their turn. But for now, it is “Gingi,” as the ginger-haired boy is called, who has captivated their attention…

The Center for World University Rankings, initiated in Saudi Arabia and headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, has ranked the Weizmann Institute of Science among the top 50 degree-granting institutions in the world.
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University were also ranked in the top 100, placing at 61 and 85, respectively. The Technion-Israeli Institute of Technology ranked 147th, while Ben-Gurion University of the Negev ranked 394th. Bar-Ilan University and the University of Haifa rounded out the list of Israeli universities, ranking at 492 and 620, respectively.

Apr 28, 2016... Six outstanding students from the Institute’s Feinberg Graduate School (FGS) traveled across the Atlantic for the second U.S. “Scientists of Tomorrow” tour. Three students, accompanied by Feinberg’s Director and Academic Secretary Dr. Ami Shalit, visited Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Denver, Boulder, and Chicago. Three others, joined by Kelly Avidan, the Institute’s Director of Resource Development and Secretary of the Association, went to Florida and New York.

NEW YORK, NY—July 6, 2011— The Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel has once again been named as the "best place to work in academia" outside the United States by The Scientist magazine, which recently released the results of its ninth annual survey. This is the third time that the Weizmann Institute has been ranked by respondents as the top international institution. It has also appeared second on the list several times, including in 2010. The results from this year's survey are published in the July 2011 edition of The Scientist.
