Jan 22, 2019... To expand the ties between the Israeli and Czech scientific communities, their countries are developing new forms of collaboration among talented young scientists. One such project is the “Joint Prague-Weizmann Winter School on Drug Discovery.” This intensive week of professional lectures is attended by more than 120 scientists and students from around the world. The project provides a unique opportunity for young Israeli and Czech researchers to meet and discuss the latest trends and challenges in drug development, as well as to meet with world leaders in academia and experts from such multinational pharmaceutical giants as MSD, Roche, and Astra Zeneca.

Jun 29, 2019... I completed my Ph.D. from Indian Association for the Cultivation Of Science (IACS), Kolkata, after which I was on the lookout for a post-doctoral position in biophysics laboratory where I could learn state-of-the-art electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. This is when I found Prof. Daniella Goldfarb’s EPR lab at Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS), Israel. Her lab has advanced facilities and, thus, I decided to pursue my further studies from WIS.

Japanese and Israeli scientists at the Advances in Brain Sciences conference
Following the visit of Japan’s Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, to Israel early in the week of January 18th, the end of the week held a visit by a group of leading Japanese scientists to Rehovot, Israel. The Advances in Brain Sciences conference the scientists attended was jointly hosted by the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot and the RIKEN Brain Science Institute in Japan. The parallels were more than incidental: Abe and Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, discussed furthering business, research, and development contacts between the countries; Weizmann and RIKEN researchers are already working to advance scientific collaboration between the two institutes and the two countries.

Three Valley teens are part of a group of 21 students from across the country who have been accepted to attend a summer science program at Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science, a center of scientific research and graduate study.
The Dr. Bessie F. Lawrence International Summer Science Institute (ISSI) is a four-week, intensive science exploration that affords students the opportunity to work in small groups with world-renowned scientists and graduate students, conducting actual, ongoing research. Participants select a subject area in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics or computer sciences. Senior Weizmann Institute scientists give supplemental lectures and participants are invited to join departmental talks and visit the campus’ state-of-the-art science facilities.

“Our comic is set in a phantasmagorical laboratory of physics inhabited by an invisible man, composed of rooms called the Microcosm, the Invisibility Pool and the Inner Forest. Complex polygons of love among the researchers accompany us in the story, as we dive into the science of invisibility.”

Part of a new series “He for She” – inspired by UN Women and heforshe.org
As a writer about women’s issues in business and life, I’ve tackled many aspects of what hinders women from advancing to equality – in the domestic arena, the global economy, and in political and business life and leadership. It’s a vast topic – complex, rich and multifaceted – with factors and influences that defy easy quantification or understanding.
