Weizmann Global Gathering 2014: Partners in Creativity at Lincoln Center, Prof. Elad Schneidman

During his portion of the science and modern dance performance at Lincoln Center, neuroscientist Prof. Elad Schneidman explains that he and his lab are “learning to read the language of the brain” – deciphering how the brain makes words, sentences, paragraphs. He tells the audience that our neurons talk to one another, as though in Morse code – and these are the fundamental symbols of the language of the brain. We see, said Prof. Schneidman, these same symbols across the brains of living beings: in flies, in mice, in whales.

As Prof. Schneidman speaks, Vertigo Dance Company members move about him – as individuals, then connected and working together, in an interpretation of these symbols and the language of the brain.
